Why We Believe in Pay-What-You-Decide

At Front Room Theatre, we believe theatre should be for everyone. That’s why we run a Pay-What-You-Decide (PWYD) ticketing system across our programme. This means that if you can you can pay more, then this evens out for those that are not able to. Each show has a low minimum price and a suggested price, but you can pay even more if you want to. That way as many people as possible can enjoy culture and the arts.

This way of working removes barriers. We know times are tough, and that household budgets are stretched. But we also know the arts can bring joy, connection, and inspiration into people’s lives. With this ticketing model, nobody has to miss out because of money.

It’s also about trust. We trust our audiences to value the work we present. Whether you give a little or a lot, every contribution goes straight back into supporting artists, keeping our doors open, and bringing bold, brilliant, and joyful theatre to Weston-super-Mare.

And it works. Pay-what-you-decide has already helped us to welcome new audiences who might not otherwise step through our doors. It’s also helped us to keep our commitment to paying artists fairly which something we’re passionate about.

So next time you book a ticket at Front Room, know that the choice is yours. Pay what you decide and be part of making theatre in Weston accessible for all.
