Free Workshop – Writing a one-person show

A FREE workshop subsidised by Papatango Theatre Company and New Writing Prize, with local writer and actor Florence Espeut-Nickless.

The workshop will explore writing a one-person show, through practical exercises and discussions. It will focus on character and place and how we can draw on our own experiences in writing to empower ourselves and others.

All levels of experience welcome. You may have written and performed lots. Or it might be something new to you, that you’re interested in trying out. There will be plenty of time for questions and the opportunity to discuss the practicalities of producing and touring a one-person show.

Florence Espeut-Nickless is a writer and actor from Chippenham in Wiltshire. Her award winning one-person show DESTINY has toured the UK for the last four years. It also had a run in Denmark. She is Writer in Residence at Bristol Old Vic (as part of the FILM 4/Peggy Ramsay Playwrights Awards) and has recently written plays for the National Theatre, Bristol Old Vic and Trowbridge Town Hall. She’s currently under commission to Bristol Old Vic, National Theatre Connections, Restoke, Ardent Theatre, Hightide and Pentabus.

She was previously CRF Writer in Residence at Pentabus, an Open Session Writer at Bristol Old Vic and an associate artist at Strike a Light, as part of the Let Artists Be Artists programme. She took part in the BBC Voices scheme and Dancing Ledge’s High End TV writer’s programme.
