Michelle Terry is Front Room’s first patron

Raised in Weston-super-Mare, Michelle is an Olivier Award-winning actor of the screen and stage – working with the National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company and Shakespeare’s Globe, where she is now the Artistic Director.

On becoming our Patron, Michelle had this to say:

“I could not be more proud and more grateful to support this incredible company. I grew up in Weston. I know first-hand the power and importance of theatre and the arts on people’s lives, and I personally owe so much to the people who created those spaces for me when I was growing up.

At a time when the world feels so divided and divisive, there is nothing more important than finding those moments to come together, whether as an artist or an audience member and to imagine worlds elsewhere.

I also understand how hard it is to make that happen and to make a basic human right available at a price that means engagement is possible for all people.

We have so much proof now of the value added of arts engagement and storytelling to benefit the health and well-being of people and society.

I have all the admiration and support for Emma, Adam, Jess & Jack for believing in and putting into practice the power of the arts to make a positive and lasting impact on people’s lives and for working so hard to make connection and community a reality.”
