SUMMARY:Luke Wright: Later Life Letter
DESCRIPTION:Luke Wright: Later Life Letter \nLater Life Letter tells the story of Luke Wright’s adoption – the life he leads\, and the one he might have done. What’s it like to stumble across your birth mother on Facebook? How do you honour the parents who have raised you while satisfying a curiosity about where you came from? Is it telling that you married a social worker?\nWright navigates his audience through a warm and honest hour of poems and stand-up with the wit\, pathos\, and silliness that has made him one of the most popular live poets in England.\nThis is a frank account of what it means to be someone’s child told by a performer who really knows what he’s doing. Expect raucous laughter\, tear-stained cheeks\, and a little smattering of drum n bass.\n“Made me laugh\, cry\, think and shudder.” – Peter Doherty\n“His poems shoot arrows through the heart.” – ★★★★★ List\n“A sharpness and wisdom that lifts the soul and soothes the battered heart.” – ★★★★ Scotsman\n“A streetwise panache and a sardonic comic verve to rival Stewart Lee.” – ★★★★★ Telegraph\n“Luke wright and this time it’s personal. A highly original idea\, expertly carried out.” John Cooper Clarke \nTrailer \n\n\n\nEvent Details\nDoors Open at 7:00PM\nStarts at 7:30PM

SUMMARY:Newberry & Verch
DESCRIPTION:Growing up\, Joe Newberry and April Verch absorbed traditions of home and hearth – in his Missouri Ozarks and her Ottawa Valley of Canada. Although they are on the road much of the year\, the two are fond of saying that they are rarely homesick\, because their music means they always have a bit of home with them wherever they go. \nNewberry comes from a family of singers and dancers. He took up the guitar and banjo as a boy and learned fiddle tunes from great Missouri fiddlers. Verch grew up listening to her Dad’s country band play for dances in the Ottawa Valley. She started step dancing at age three and fiddling at age six. \nIn a Newberry & Verch show\, delighted audiences see first-hand the roots of their music\, their love of performing\, and their strong musical connection. Original songs join timeless classics. Stories warm the heart\, and give audiences a chance to understand where the music comes from. Lively fiddle and banjo numbers combine with traditional dance steps to illustrate happy times when people made their own fun. \nWhether it is the power of two voices lifted in harmony\, or the sound of traditional tunes calling people to get up and move\, these two masters of tradition put on an unforgettable show. And\, when their feet kick up the dust in perfect rhythm and those two voices become one\, Newberry & Verch help remind folks why this music existed in the first place. \nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1mS7FyNves\n\n\nEvent Details\nDoors Open at 7:00PM\nFrom 7:30PM to 9:00PM

SUMMARY:Tom Bright - supported by local artist Tony NWI
DESCRIPTION:Front Room is thrilled to welcome – “The excellent Tom Bright” – Guy Garvey (BBC 6 Music) – to Weston-super-Mare. \nTom Bright is a relentlessly touring songwriter whose songs land with emotional weight and unvarnished honesty. 2025 saw him make his third television appearance on BBC One’s Sunday Morning Live\, serenade thousands at his fifth Glastonbury Festival\, and sell out shows across the UK and beyond. \nArmed with a guitar signed by Johnny Marr of The Smiths and John Squire of the Stone Roses\, Bright’s tireless graft has seen him hit iconic heights of the London Palladium\, Shepherd’s Bush Empire\, appear on BBC’s The One Show and Sky News\, and record countless live sessions and interviews for BBC Radio 2\, 5 Live\, Radio X and more. \nAlong the way\, he’s shared stages with The Libertines\, Mystery Jets\, Tom Grennan\, Reverend & The Makers\, Katherine Priddy\, Ed Harcourt and others. He has collaborated with The The\, earned continued support from tastemakers Guy Garvey and John Kennedy and spent two years on Spotify’s Most Beautiful Songs in the World playlist with ‘If I Met Your Shadow’. \nIn May\, Tom released Young Old Bloke\, a collection of early songs produced by Mick Jones (The Clash) and Dirty White. He has three previous albums in the world — all produced by Ed Harcourt. \nAway from the stage\, his story is just as remarkable: once the UK’s youngest pub landlord\, and a childhood marked by multiple life-saving surgeries.Tom is currently working on his fifth studio album\, with Blaine Harrison (Mystery Jets) handling production. \nTom will be supported by local artist\, Tony NWI. Tony NWI has been making music with his partner in Naked Without It\, Martin Kennedy\, for nearly 30 years. They have a large following in the Surrey area where they play their “urban folk” to appreciative audiences. Tony lives in Weston-super-Mare and is really excited to bring his upbeat acoustic songs to his hometown crowd. \n“One of the UK’s most moving songwriters… fantastic” – John Kennedy (Radio X)\n“Unique and exceptional talents of one of our finest emerging singer songwriters” – Louder Than War \nhttp://www.tombright.co.uk/\n\n\nEvent Details\nDoors Open at 7:00PM\nFrom 7:30PM to 9:00PM

SUMMARY:Zaid Hilal UK Tour 2026
DESCRIPTION:Spellbinding Palestinian folk-rock-and beyond\nZaid Hilal is a Palestinian singer and composer from Bethlehem\, carrying forward a living musical heritage shaped by memory\, resistance\, and everyday life.\n“As Palestinian artists\, we don’t only preserve heritage\, we build on it. We create new music that grows from it\, music that reflects our present reality and the struggles we continue to live through.” Zaid Hilal\nThis will be a solo act with backing tapes including Zaid’s field recordings of Elders’ remembered  songs of resistance.  The venue is a famous community venue with a particularly fine beer selection.\n\n\nMichael Loader will be joining Zaid on stage to add a tonic of trumpet to some of the songs and tell stories from Palestine and the Arabic world.\n\n\nZaid’s 2025 UK tour was a great success.  Here’s what one punter wrote at the Elementary Festival \n“There are moments when music becomes more than sound\, it becomes collective prayer. This set at Elementary Festival deserves its own story. When Zaid took the stage\, his voice carried more than melody\, it carried memory\, longing\, resistance\, and love. As we chanted back “Hala lala layya” with him\, we weren’t just singing we were remembering. Rooted in ancient folk song\, these words echo a love so powerful it would be “written on birds’ wings. Carried by wind. Etched in tears” In that moment\, we sang not just for one another\, but for all who long to be free. For Palestine. For the ones whose songs are interrupted. For the voices that rise even when silenced. It was joy… It was resistance. It was ancestral rhythm meeting modern grief. And it was holy. May we keep singing. May we never forget. May our voices carry around the world. How wonderfully blessed to be present with this”  Maggie \nIn the Middle East Zaid is a rising star with over a  million youtube hits and multiple thousands of followers.  See instagram @zaidhilalofficial\nAnd his thriving youtube channel.  Also his website https://zaidhilal.com \n\n\n\nEvent Details\nDoors Open at 7:00PM\nFrom 7:30PM to 10:00PM

SUMMARY:Zaid Hilal UK Tour 2026 MUSICIANS and SINGERS FREE WORKSHOP
DESCRIPTION:Zaid Hilal is a Palestinian folk-pop-rock artist on a UK tour. His concert is this evening at the same venue at 7.30pm. Zaid grew up and lives in Beit Sahour in Occupied Palestine\, on the West Bank. He studied classical Arabic music as a young boy at the Edward Said National Music Conservatoire\, playing the baglama and specialising in singing. You can read more in tonight’s concert entry. \nThis workshop is for intermediate and advanced players and singers. You should have reasonable fluency already in your instrument/voice. \nHe writes \n“This workshop is designed for musicians who want to go beyond playing notes and start understanding the language of Arabic music through its core foundation: the maqam system. Arabic maqam is not just a scale—it is a living musical expression built on emotion\, direction\, and identity. Each maqam carries its own character\, mood\, and traditional usage\, shaping how melodies are created\, performed\, and felt. In this workshop\, we will explore how maqams work in practice\, how they are constructed\, and how musicians can apply them creatively in performance and composition. \nThe focus is not only theoretical\, but also deeply practical\, training the ear\, the feeling\, and the ability to improvise within the system. Whether you come from a Western classical background\, jazz\, or contemporary music\, this workshop will help you connect your instrument to the Arabic musical language in a clear and usable way. By the end\, you will not only recognize maqams you will be able to play\, feel\, and use them confidently in real musical contexts.”\n\n\nEvent Details\nDoors Open at 2:00PM\nFrom 2:00PM to 3:30PM
