DESCRIPTION:Join award winning theatre maker and actor Neil Haigh for this one-off workshop and explore how to create exciting\, dynamic & playful theatre using only ourselves and a few basic scene or story ideas. (Age 16+\, over 50’s welcome!) \n\nOver an intensive 4 hrs we will endeavour to cover:\nPlayful approaches to acting – (openness\, complicity\, theatre as ‘game’)Physical/non-psychological approaches to scenes – techniques for narrative\, generating new material & ‘character Imagery\, atmosphere & ‘heightened’ theatricality for narrative content – (non ‘text-led’ storytelling) Scene Creation – using some or all of these techniques from visual stimuli (group/ensemble devising work) This workshop is ideally suited for those with some prior acting and/or theatre making experience\, but you do NOT have to be a professional actor. You might be looking for theatre making techniques for your own work\, wishing to compliment existing studies\, or just keen to explore a new area in theatre…whatever the case – just bring yourself\, a sense of fun and a preparedness to try with no pressure to ‘succeed’ or ‘get it right’. \n\n* The first half (approx) of the workshop will focus on techniques and how to generate content\, and the second half on applying them to specific\, provided scenarios and visual stimuli\n* Whilst approaches to Acting make up a part of this workshop\, the emphasis is more on theatre making & how to generate and explore content and meaning\n*Some movement will form part of the workshop but there is no requirement to be ‘athletic’ and no upper age limit. I will happily work with whatever access requirements you may need\, so please do let us know in advance! \n\nAbout Neil:\nStudied Acting & Devising with John Wright (Trestle\, Told By An Idiot) and has since forged a career as an actor on stage and screen. DESCRIPTION:The Lost Trades are a Folk/Americana Trio\, based in the West Country\, with a cool Laurel Canyon vibe. With a sound that is reminiscent of the California folk scene of the late 60s/early 70s\, their three part harmonies have been described as “flawless”\, “spine tingling” and “magical”. \nAfter a global pandemic cut short their first tour after just a single sold out gig\, the band retreated to their songwriting rooms to work on their debut album\, “The Bird\, The Book & The Barrel”. The album was released in June 2021 and was well received\, spending 8 months in the Official UK Folk Albums Chart. The follow up\, “Petrichor” was released in March 2023\, and immediately followed suit\, entering the chart at #31. \nA live performance involves easy interchanging of instruments\, including guitar\, ukulele\, bass and percussion at different points. DESCRIPTION:Man at Sea is a singer-songwriter in the classic sense. Crafting songs at the piano reminiscent of Rufus Wainwright or solo Thom Yorke\, this is sophisticated song writing that weaves melody with lyric\, taking cues from the great songwriters. His background in theatre is never far away\, his songs often telling stories about the strangeness of life and the human condition. \nHailing from a small village on the Isle of Wight\, where the sea served as a constant muse\, his passion for song writing blossomed at a young age. Relocating to Bristol\, he embraced the moniker Man at Sea and began captivating local audiences with his stripped-back\, intimate performances at the piano. \nAfter a resurgent desire to reignite his song writing career\, 2023 saw the release of three brand new acclaimed singles\, culminating in his first full professional EP ‘Love & Anxiety‘. His TikTok page amassed over 12\,000 followers in the space of a few months. \nRecent shows include a SOLD OUT gig at the Bristol Fringe\, a tour in Germany/London in the summer of 2024 and a homecoming gig on the Isle of Wight. \n2026 marks a new chapter with the release of new singles from his forthcoming studio album ‘Pale Fire Catch Me’ (March 2026) and a UK tour early 2026. \nOn the record Man at Sea says: “I’m incredibly excited at the prospect of releasing my first full length record. Despite the change in people’s listening habits\, I have always held the album to be one of the greatest artforms. DESCRIPTION:Following on from the success of Doggie Life Drawing\, Tracy Wride returns with another interactive evening of painting and socialising. \nThe evening will be artist led/directed and the space will be set up ready for people to sit comfortably. All materials will be provided\, easels\, boards\, canvas\, paint\, brushes\, palettes etc. Participants will be guided in a step-by-step approach\, so they leave with a piece of artwork they’ve created\, inspired by the original. \nEach person will have their own printed imagery as reference\, attached to the easel. The artist\, Tracy\, will be working in real time with them on a larger scale so everyone can clearly see her methods and technique. There will be drying times during the process where grabbing a drink will be encouraged. \nThe artist will be walking around and encouraging/helping wherever possible. It’s open to all skill levels\, it’s not about the work being a perfect copy of the inspiration but the participant’s own interpretation
