SUMMARY:Steve Pledger
DESCRIPTION:Front Room is thrilled to welcome Steve back to Weston after his wonderful live set last year. Don’t miss this visit as last year’s proved very special indeed. \nSteve Pledger is a multi-award-winning recording artist with an enviable reputation as a talented and dynamic performer. With writing that ranges from fragile reflections on love and loss to blistering commentaries on present circumstances\, his songs pack an emotional punch\,\nboth on record and on stage. \nCast in the mould of the classic troubadour\, there are inevitably shades of those who ultimately have defined the role\, and yet his blend of blistering social commentary\, stark honesty\, and fearless tenderness have marked Steve out as someone unafraid to create his own place in\nthe singer/songwriter landscape. Discernible influences include Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam\, Loudon Wainwright lll\, Graham Parker\, Don McLean\, Springsteen\, and others. \n“Poetic\, knowing\, clever\, thoughtful & melodic; the world would be a far better place with more of this stuff.” (8/10) Americana-uk\n“An object lesson in the craft of contemporary song writing.” fRoots Magazine\n“(‘Somewhere Between’) casts Steve as a protest singer\, up there with the likes of Billy Bragg\, Phil Ochs and Ewan MacColl.” Neil King\, FATEA Magazine\n“Extraordinary! If you haven’t found Steve before\, you have now!” Folking.com \nwww.stevepledger.co.uk\n\n\nEvent Details\nDoors Open at 6:30PM\nFrom 7:00PM to 8:30PM

SUMMARY:Songdog
DESCRIPTION:After last year’s spellbinding performance\, Front Room are thrilled to welcome back Songdog. Don’t miss out this time around! \nSongdog are a trio centred around Welsh songwriter Lyndon Morgans. He is joined by longstanding fellow Songdog regular Karl ‘Pod’ Woodward\, who provides keyboard and the distinctive Mellotron sound that peppers the latest album\, plus new violinist Bethan Frieze. \n‘Mirabilia Mundi’ was released in 2025 on Junkyard Songs and is the current album from Songdog. Over the course of the record’s ten songs Lyndon continues his exploration of favourite themes: time passing and the struggle to make sense of a disappearing world; a foreboding of things ending and a looking back at long-lost glory days. There are nods to the earliest Songdog albums woven throughout for those who know them. There’s a new producer\, too\, Al Steele (also known as guitarist with The Korgis). \nPrevious albums include 2022’s ‘Of Gods And Men’ (which came out under Lyndon’s own name)\, ’A Happy Ending\, ‘Joy Street’\, ‘Last Orders at Harry’s Bar’\, ‘A Life Eroding’\, ‘A Wretched Sinner’s Song’\, ‘The Time Of Summer Lightning’\, ‘Haiku’ and ‘The Way Of The World’ and were released to\ngreat reviews from the likes of Uncut\, Mojo\, The Mirror\, Maverick\, RnR and Americana UK amongst others. Lyndon’s tracks have featured on BBC Radio 2 and BBC 6Music plus other regional and international shows\, he recorded a session for Tom Robinson’s show and his music has been\npraised by Bruce Springsteen and Robert Wyatt. \n“Ten songs\, ten peerless evocations of place\, people and time passing\, where every word is exactly right and every line conjures up an unforgettable image or memory.. This will be the album of the year.” 5* RnR (Jeremy Searle)\n“A gifted\, fearless songwriter …sculpting heart’s-done-time melancholy\, reverie\, black comedy and poetry into extraordinary shapes.” 4* Mojo (James McNair)\n“These are elegies for art and bad behaviour that felt immortally good\, an old idea of bohemia defiantly hanging on.” 8/10 Uncut (Nick Hasted\n“There lingers a feeling that Mr Morgans is a little bit star crossed. It is a wonderful world and Morgans has travelled through it possessing a big talent.” Americana UK (Andy Davidson)\n“Mortality\, loss and failed dreams loom large\, through Morgans’s deeply poetic words and the simple but intoxicating melodies.” Fatea (Mike Davies)\n“Broken-hearted canvases filled with elusive\, poetic narratives.” Arts Desk (Thomas Green) \nwww.songdog.co.uk\nhttps://youtu.be/0AkjJUlFVpM\nhttps://open.spotify.com/album/31zD8aMW1uHLBVlVE0A1VJ\n\n\nEvent Details\nDoors Open at 7:00PM\nFrom 7:30PM to 9:30PM

SUMMARY:Gabriel Moreno and The Quivering Poets
DESCRIPTION:“An Offshoot of Leonard Cohen and Neil Diamond. I love it!” (Cerys Mathews\, BBC6) \nGabriel Moreno is Gibraltarian singer-songwriter\, currently based in London. An irresistibly engaging performer\, he combines a latin exuberance and passion with a rare lyrical calibre (he is also an accomplished poet\, with 12 books published to date). Performing on nylon string guitar and accompanied by The Quivering Poets\, he creates a live experience that has been described as ”Taberna Folk” – at once both energetic and intimate\, anarchic and absorbing. \nHe has thrilled audiences across South America\, the USA and Europe\, including recent sets at UK festivals Wilderness\, The Great British Folk Festival and Purbeck Valley Folk Festival\, and has been championed by the likes of BBC 6 Music’s Cerys Matthews\, with his sonorous baritone and poetical lyrics often seeing him compared to such luminary wordsmiths as Leonard Cohen\, Nick Cave and Bill Callahan. \nMoreno’s unique artistic voice lies in the meeting and fusion of different identities. Born and raised in Gibraltar\, a British territory bordering southern Spain and just 8 miles from Africa\, he has since lived and performed across the world\, absorbing influences from music\, literature and art everywhere he went. Now considered one of the most compelling and distinctive artists in London’s thriving folk and roots scene\, he was previously the longtime curator and host of the legendary Lantern Society folk club\, and in 2022 was awarded the title of Cultural Ambassador of Gibraltar. \n“Moreno’s warm voice\, embroidered by The Quivering poets accompaniment\, engrosses and soothes. Meditative one moment and despairing the next\, these unhurried songs offer spiritual succour and solidarity\, a balm for our trying times”\n– Morning Star ★★★★★ \n“The songs tread a path between Folk\, Latin and cabaret torch song. It’s an oddly effective mix which forms the perfect bed for Gabriel Moreno’s distinctive voice -a blend of Leonard Cohen\, Peter Sarstedt\, and dare I say it\, Rex Harrison.” -(Trevor Raggart\, RNR magazine) \nhttp://www.gabrielmoreno.co.uk/\n\n\nEvent Details\nDoors Open at 6:30PM\nFrom 7:00PM to 8:30PM
