SUMMARY:Take Flight
DESCRIPTION:Take Flight is a stunning aerial theatre show for 0-2 year olds and their grown ups. The story follows a musical mother bird as their baby hatches\, grows and explores\, navigating the challenges of hunger\, sleep and play. Culminating in a beautiful aerial moment\, the mother bird supports her baby to leave the nest & take flight. \nThis multi-sensory\, interactive show ignites the imagination and curiosity of babies who are then invited into the space with the performers to explore the baby safe set and props\, including having a swing in the silks. \nWe worked with development psychologist Dr Valentina Sclafani from Lincoln University to ensure the content is positive for babies in terms of neurological & motor skills development & encourages a strong bond between babies and their grown ups. \n“Our 10 month old was just mesmerized and her attention was held the whole way through (which is a miracle in itself)”

SUMMARY:Zaid Hilal UK Tour 2026 MUSICIANS and SINGERS FREE WORKSHOP
DESCRIPTION:Zaid Hilal is a Palestinian folk-pop-rock artist on a UK tour. His concert is this evening at the same venue at 7.30pm. Zaid grew up and lives in Beit Sahour in Occupied Palestine\, on the West Bank. He studied classical Arabic music as a young boy at the Edward Said National Music Conservatoire\, playing the baglama and specialising in singing. You can read more in tonight’s concert entry. \nThis workshop is for intermediate and advanced players and singers. You should have reasonable fluency already in your instrument/voice. \nHe writes \n“This workshop is designed for musicians who want to go beyond playing notes and start understanding the language of Arabic music through its core foundation: the maqam system. Arabic maqam is not just a scale—it is a living musical expression built on emotion\, direction\, and identity. Each maqam carries its own character\, mood\, and traditional usage\, shaping how melodies are created\, performed\, and felt. In this workshop\, we will explore how maqams work in practice\, how they are constructed\, and how musicians can apply them creatively in performance and composition. \nThe focus is not only theoretical\, but also deeply practical\, training the ear\, the feeling\, and the ability to improvise within the system. Whether you come from a Western classical background\, jazz\, or contemporary music\, this workshop will help you connect your instrument to the Arabic musical language in a clear and usable way. By the end\, you will not only recognize maqams you will be able to play\, feel\, and use them confidently in real musical contexts.”\n\n\nEvent Details\nDoors Open at 2:00PM\nFrom 2:00PM to 3:30PM

SUMMARY:The Archeology of A Story with Sally Pomme Clayton
DESCRIPTION:“The seeds of narrative dynamism are there\, ready in the narrative elements\, but it requires talented narrators to hit upon and make use of them.” – Max Luthi\, The Fairytale as art form. \nThis playful and practical masterclass workshop digs deep into traditional stories – folktales\, fairytales and myths – searching for the jewels\nthat make them endlessly meaningful\, tellable and alive! \nThis workshop is for beginners or experienced storytellers alike – each working to their own level of experience. Pomme will take the group through a series of creative tasks\, games and processes that explore both storytelling and stories\, and help you make a traditional story your own. \nPomme has distilled her long practise as a performance storyteller into the idea of ’24 Story Seeds’ – narrative seeds that exist inside traditional stories that guide the teller and help shape performance. The seeds range from genre to rhythm\, structure to sound\, dialogue to character. The ’24 Story Seeds’ are there inside all stories – just waiting for storytellers to find them! Pomme will explore some of the seeds with you\, using: writing; telling; improvisation; visualisation; movement; drawing; gesture; memory; sound; listening; discussion and sharing. You will break a story open\, dig around in it and discover some of its treasures. You will not have a ‘finished’ story at the end. But you will have some approaches that you can apply to the whole story later on. \nYou do not need to bring a story. But bring a notebook and pen\, and comfy clothes. There will be breaks for drinks and lunch. \n\n\n\nEvent Details\nDoors Open at 10:15AM\nFrom 10:30AM to 4:00PM
