Story Slam: Theme of FORBIDDEN FRUIT

Bristol’s favourite storytelling show is coming to Weston! Story Slam is where you can hear people’s amazing true stories, told live on stage. From the heartwarming and hilarious, to the tragic and heartbreaking, all stories told on the night come from members of the audience. But no pressure to tell a story! You can come and share a story of your own, or simply come along and enjoy everyone else’s.

THEME ️
Each show has its own unique theme, and this month our theme is Forbidden Fruit. Stories of temptation, curiosity, and the lure of the off-limits. Eating the snack when you know you shouldn’t, sneaking into a restricted area, or meeting up with the person you said you wouldn’t. Stories of everything not allowed and verboten. Affairs, secret cigarettes, and cheat meals. Stealing, seduction and giving into indulgence. Crossing a border without a visa, jumping a fence into a festival, or looking at someone’s phone without permission… The thrill of rule-breaking, secret indulgences, and desires kept hidden. Stories of defiance, daring misadventure, and fallout that resulted… Have you got a story about forbidden fruit? Then come tell us on January 11th at the Front Room, Weston-super-Mare.

STORY RULES
Live stories must follow a few simple rules, they must be:
• True
• Told in 5 minutes or less
• Stories. No rants, stand-up routines or monologues. (A story has a beginning, middle and end with some change and/or conflict having occurred)
• Told in first person. You should be a major character in the story.
• Told without notes or props.

CONTENT WARNINGS
In the interest of making the Story Slam a safe and comfortable place to be, storytellers are able to attach content warnings to their stories, to warn of any sensitive or distressing topics. Details of how to do this will be explained on the day. Content warnings are read out before each story to give people a chance to leave the room if they so wish.

ACCESSIBILITY

AGE LIMIT
Story Slam has no age limit. However the live and spontaneous nature of the show means that profanity and adult themes are to be expected. Children are welcome if accompanied by an adult, but parental discretion is advised.
