SUMMARY:5Rhythms® Ecstatic Dance with Jon Ralls
DESCRIPTION:You Love Dancing to Great Music … but not the late nights\, substances and selfies?! \nYou’re not alone! \nThe 5Rhythms® is the original\, the mother of modern ecstatic dance practices. A simple\, powerful moving meditation that anyone – of any age\, size\, or physical ability – can practise. Lightly guided\, there are no steps to follow\, no choreography to learn\, no way to do it wrong. The only requirement is a body that is still breathing\, a heart that is still beating\, and mind that is still curious! \nCreated by Gabrielle Roth and practiced by tens of thousands worldwide\, 5Rhythms is a philosophy\, perspective\, performance art and a dynamic movement practice rooted in the principle that if you put the psyche in motion it will heal itself. Movement is both the medicine and the metaphor\, reaching across all languages\, cultures and age groups to transform suffering into art\, art into awareness\, and awareness into action. Wherever the 5Rhythms are practiced\, a community is born to dance\, to sweat\, to change\, to support\, and to provide a safe space for each of us to shatter the ego’s hold and awaken the juicy\, unpredictable\, fascinating\, edge-walking\, rock star part of ourselves that yearns to be free. \nCreativity. Connection. Community. \n  \nJon has been dancing the 5Rhythms since 2008\, and completed the 2023/24 5Rhythms Waves Teacher Training programme. He currently holds weekly 5Rhythms Classes in Weston-super-Mare\, and covers classes in Bristol and elsewhere when other teachers are away. Jon’s profile on 5rhythms.com: https://www.5rhythms.com/teachers/Jon+Ralls \n“I am endlessly captivated by the depth\, subtlety and simplicity of our practice\, always returning — especially when our busy old heads go off on one — to the ground of our practice… feet and breath\, feet and breath…” – Jon Ralls\, Accredited 5Rhythms Teacher \n  \nDETAILS: \nTwice monthly on the first and third Sundays of the month\, 11:00am – 1:00pm \n11am start – please arrive a little early to get ready and warm up (you will otherwise have to cross the ‘dance floor’ to deposit bags\, coats\, shoes!) \nTickets: \n£12/£10 booked online (by 9:00pm the night before) – see In-Rhythm website below for details and booking link; £15 drop-in (card/cash on the door) \nFull details are on the booking link \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Eight: The One (Wo)Man Drag King Musical Parody
DESCRIPTION:Henry VIII has returned to the land of the living to discover he is exclusively remembered as that bloke with six wives. Featuring parodies of songs by Meatloaf\, Celine Dion and Ed Sheeran\, this bonkers show explores the lesser known side of the famous Tudor king and asks us\, “Is Henry truly the villain he is painted out to be?”(Probably\, yes\, but at least we will have fun while we find it out!)Written by Bristol based Drag King\, Hannah Clift\, EIGHT is a love letter to SIX The Musical\, rock music of the 70s and 80s and to the queer art of Drag! SUMMARY:Once Upon a Story - Storytelling Workshop with Michael Loader

It is good to have the focus on fun\, but with a deeper aspect alongside. Michael was very motivating but also gentle and responsive to the groups’ abilities to participate at varying levels”Alzheimer’s Society”Michael allowed us space to interpret\, which was a bit unnerving at first but ultimately freeing”Folk House Bristol”I enjoyed Michael’s honesty and integrity. I liked his flexibility and by being relaxed\, enabled me to loosen up”WEA adult course \n\nMichael has been enjoying life as a storyteller for over twenty years\, and as a facilitator and theatre practitioner for more than he can remember.\nAs workshop leader he has facilitated drama and storytelling courses ‘home and abroad’ with Cortijo Romero in Spain\, Hello Project Romania\, the Festival of Fools theatre company\, Hawkwood College\, the NHS\, Forest Schools\, adult centres and the corporate world. SUMMARY:Gato Negro
DESCRIPTION:Front Room is thrilled to welcome internationally reknowned puppetry artist\, Gabriela Céspedes\, on a rare opportunity to see her delightful Lambe Lambe puppetry show\, Gato Negro. \n\nIn an old theatre\, there is no performance today. \n\nIn the solitude of her dressing room\, an actress leaves everything tidy\, awaiting the moment of passage. \n\nIs it reality\, or a dream? \n\nBlack Cat\, by Gabriela Cespedes explores the moment of passage from life to death. That intimate and peculiar moment of the last breath\, when organic life ends. \nGabriela Céspedes is a multidisciplinary artist with over 35 years of experience as an actress\, puppeteer\, director\, cultural manager\, and educator. An international benchmark in Lambe Lambe Theatre\, she has toured across the Americas and Europe with emblematic works such as Gato Negro and Bladimir. \nShe has directed and participated in projects in Brazil and Paraguay\, and coordinated the first Diploma in Puppet and Object Theatre at The National University of the Chaco Austral. Among her honours\, the Javier Villafañe National Award for lifetime achievement stands out. \nTeatro de Lambe Lambe is a unique form of miniature puppet theatre that originated in Brazil in the late 1980s. It was created by the Brazilian artists Denise Di Santos and Ismine Lima\, who developed the form in Salvador\, Bahia. Performed inside a small and portable theatre\, each show is presented to one spectator at a time\, creating an intimate and immersive experience. Through carefully crafted puppets\, lighting\, sound\, and movement\, a complete theatrical world unfolds in just a few minutes. \nInspired by the tradition of street photographers known as lambe lambe\, the form invites audiences to pause\, look closely\, and enter a poetic moment of storytelling. Today\, Lambe Lambe Theatre is performed around the world and is celebrated for its inventiveness\, intimacy\, and ability to transform small spaces into powerful theatrical experiences. \n\n\nEvent Details\nDoors Open at 11:45AM\nFrom 12:00PM to 5:00PM

SUMMARY:Glitch - Four comedies from a world on the blink
DESCRIPTION:Glitch’: Four comedies from a world on the blink is a collection of short plays and excerpts\, written by early-career playwrights from the South-West of England\, where comedy\, chaos and culture collide on stage. These stories crack open the systems we live in and laugh at the very structures that shape us.\nThe four scripts featured are:\nThe Bus Stop by Patrick Large\nIt is mid-morning at a bus stop\, and two young men in their twenties from very different backgrounds find themselves sitting next to each other: one with a trust fund haircut\, and one with a love for winding up the poshos. Will they connect? Will they debate? No chance.\nGod Is Dead by Joe Brooks\nGod is dead\, washed up on the beach at Weston-super-Mare. It soon becomes clear that this is murder: murder most metaphysical. Detective Inspector Taylor and PC Blake are drawing up the list of suspects. They come to their prime suspect\, but can they bring the fallen angel in for questioning?\nThe Authors by Jamillah Knowles\nAs Benja struggles to seduce a muse through alcohol and isolation\, their flatmates Dex and Rikki have different ideas about how they craft the narratives of their lives. Is art really pain? Does anyone care if the scripts on a foot fetishist’s subscription site are generated using AI?\nEnd of the World by Geraint Hughes\nA hilarious and thought-provoking Kubrick / Stoppard / Tarantino mash-up on our relationship with Artificial Intelligence. Are we all complicit in letting AI shape our cultural\, political\, and environmental landscape? Will we continue to let it displace human creativity and original thought\, or does the fight back start here? It’s a rollercoaster ride!\n\n\nEvent Details\nDoors Open at 7:00PM\nFrom 7:30PM to 9:30PM \n\n14+ advisory’ contains: swearing\, gun violence\, blasphemy and sex work descriptions

And does that really matter?\n\nLoss is the only truly universal experience. Whether it’s coming to terms with the passing of a loved one\, tucking the first tooth you’ve lost under your pillow\, or realising that you have no idea where your wallet is after spending a blurry night boozing at the pub – we’ve all been there. What’s more\, we’re going to keep coming face to face with loss. Lose yourself (geddit?) in the latest piece by Succulent Theatre\, unpacking what loss looks like to them\, what it looks like to you\, and what it could look like for all of us.Death\, grief and loss can be scary to talk about\, but if we don’t – we just feel alone. And grief already makes you feel alone. It’s not all doom and gloom\, though. This feel-good tragicomedy will remind you that life is a celebration and every loss you experience is an opportunity for you to grow. Drugs\, sex\, love\, family and friendship are at the centre of this contemplative work which really puts the ‘fun’ in funeral. \nThe stories shared are painfully true\, often painfully funny\, and will hold a mirror up to your own experiences in a way that you might not expect. In their signature style\, Succulent dexterously guides you through their losses from cradle to grave. Come watch them pick at a brand new scab and see what comes oozing out. \nFollowing the success of their debut show ‘NASTY: ‘Big’ girls being gross\, mean and sexy’\, the Succulent girlies are back with another queer\, autobiographical\, confessional piece of theatre that’s gut-busting and gut-wrenching in equal measure. \n****. 5 – Pub Theatre Reviews \n“The company manage\, half-naked\, to both cover a plethora of social issues and drum up pride for femininity”\n“It’s not often that you feel like you’re making friends when watching theatre”\n“A sense of community and support”\n“Seamless. Natural. Powerful. Honest. Humble.”\n“So moving because it is so human”\n“It is relevant\, urgent and absorbing”\n“You know how some people want to run away with the circus? I want to run away with Succulent.” \n\n\n\nEvent Details\nDoors Open at 7:00PM\nFrom 7:30PM to 8:45PM
